Happy Memorial Day!
Let us remember the brave servicemen and women who died while serving our country!

**I took this photo on Memorial Day weekend several years ago, at the cemetery where my grandfather's body is buried. He was a proud Army veteran. Though he did not die in service, blind in one eye he had to fight to even be able to serve his country during the second World War. He served states side and as a result, was assigned to work at or near a college in the Champagne/Urbana area of Illinois. Where he met my grandmother. And the rest, is family history. Thank goodness for the US Army and my grandfather's stubborn pride and patriotism! (BTW: Veteran's Day is when I tell the story of how the US Navy was key in introducing my parents to one another.)

Freedom doesn't come free. Hug a Vet!

  1. Thanks for sharing this photo with us. I love that your grandpa really wanted to serve our country! That's neat that he ended up meeting your grandma near where he was assigned.
